We often deal with water damaged devices, mostly portable devices such as iPhones, but in one historic case we were faced with a laptop that had been on the ground floor of a property that had flooded after the local river had burst its banks. Luckily, the laptop was not powered up at the time, as this would have caused further complications.
It might sound counterproductive, but if you’re in this situation, don’t try and dry out the hard drive yourself; instead, take it straight to a professional data recovery specialist. The recovered data was then returned to the client on a blank external hard drive.
