Professional RAID data recovery for servers, NAS and virtual environments.

Expert recovery from failed RAID arrays, NAS devices, SAN storage and VMware virtual machines.

RAID storage systems are designed to provide redundancy and improve performance, but they can still fail due to multiple hard drive failures, RAID controller faults, firmware corruption, accidental reconfiguration, file system corruption or user error. Recovering data from RAID arrays requires specialist expertise to accurately reconstruct the original array before any files can be accessed.

At Data Recovery Specialists, we recover data from RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10, RAID 50, RAID 60 and complex nested RAID configurations. Our engineers also recover data from Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN), VMware virtual machines and enterprise storage systems across Windows, Linux, UNIX and macOS platforms.

Our exceptionally high RAID recovery success rate has been achieved through decades of experience combined with proprietary recovery software and specialist hardware developed specifically for multi-drive storage systems. Organisations including the Ministry of Defence, NHS, police forces and businesses throughout the UK trust our expertise to recover critical business data when conventional recovery methods have failed.

Every RAID recovery begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. We identify the array configuration, determine the cause of failure and provide a detailed report, recoverable file listing and fixed quotation before any recovery work begins. This transparent, no-obligation process allows you to make an informed decision before proceeding with the recovery.

RAID Data Recovery FAQs

Failed RAID Controller
If the RAID controller fails, it becomes difficult or impossible to continue using the array in its original configuration. A controller failure can typically be identified by an amber light on the RAID’s controller status board. If the controller fails, it may be impossible to access your data without professional recovery techniques.
RAID Not Recognised
You may be presented with a ‘RAID not found’ error message when booting up your machine, which could indicate either a configuration issue or a controller failure. Be sure that the array is cabled properly, and check to see if the firmware is up to date.
Blue Screen
If the drives within the RAID are not synchronizing, it can lead to a ‘blue screen of death’. If it happens repeatedly, this may suggest a serious problem with one of the drives. If it just happens once it is likely just a one-off, but it is worth keeping an eye on the health of your RAID.
Error Messages
Your RAID manager will generate warning messages whenever one of the units is failing, or if a failure is imminent. It is imperative that these failing units be repaired, or replaced immediately. You can set up email or SMS warnings so that you can detect any failing units wherever you are.
File Structure is Corrupted
If the BIOS is recognising your RAID, but the data is inaccessible, this is indicative of a logical failure. Providing no data recovery software has been run and there’s been no risk of data being overwritten, the chances of a successful recovery are high.
Free RAID Recovery Evaluation
Our free RAID recovery evaluation service will tell you whether your data can be recovered, exactly how much it will cost and how long the RAID recovery will take. Simply phone or email us for a job number and send your data recovery to us. Your hard drive or media will be photographed, catalogued and bar-coded and the data recovery evaluation will start within an hour of receipt.
